1961 Strathcona Park 12 Hours

And now on UBC Grandstand, highlights from the 2nd annual 12 hours of Strathcona Park, which is also the first round of the Unglonian Endurance Championship.

20 cars were gathered today at Strathcona Park in the state of Grahamshire for the 2nd annual 12 hours of Strathcona Park endurance race. No foreign drivers are here today, unfortunately.

The flag drops and the drivers run to their cars to get the race started.

Reg Fletcher drops oil just 10 minutes into the race, causing Robert Thompson-Brown to spin out on the following lap.

Peter Grace's Lotus catches fire in the pits just 30 minutes into the race.

Vasco Noguera breaks a conrod after just 18 laps.

Heath Murray leaks oil less than an hour into the race, causing 2 cars to spin out over the next 2 laps.

Garth Banchard suffers a magneto failure after 48 laps.

Adam Foster gets a crankshaft failure after 51 laps.

John Yoxall has a gearbox failure after 66 laps.

John Lund breaks his brakes (geddit?) after 77 laps.

James Brigham has a crankshaft failure at the 3 hour mark.

Eutimio Burmidez gets a halfshaft failure after 105 laps.

Andrew Comstock suffers a piston failure after 115 laps.

Frank Lawler loses an engine after 123 laps.

Tony Gilbert also has an engine failure after 190 laps.

Errol Keefe has a suspension failure after just over 6 hours.

Armando Rubio gets an oil leak after 234 laps.

After 315 laps, the race is halted when Armando Rubio's Austin-Healey 3000 breaks down with engine trouble, leaving Lewis Kemp and Martin Stack's Ferrari as the last car standing, giving Kemp and Stack a second victory in a row at Strathcona Park.
