1957 Unglonian Drivers Championship - rd.1

Good afternoon and welcome to the first ever round of the 1957 Unglonian Drivers Championship. It's a humid springs day in our nation's capital New Salisbury as the cars roll onto the grid.

Setting the pace for yesterday's time trials was Alberto Oriotiz in his Maserati 250F T2, But can he withstand the onslaught of surplus BRM P25's?

The national flag drops and we are racing but there is already trouble! Jonas Acosta and Lucio Quintana have collided as soon as they have gotten off the grid! Anyway Alberto Oriotiz has led the pack.

There has been another collision, Adina Bengochea and Ivor Granville are out of the race.

Our third pileup in 8 laps: David Robbins' Ferrari and Todd Kennedy's Maserati.

On lap 15 the has been another collision, This time involving Owen Owens Sr in his BRM P25 and Juan Hernandez in His Ferrari 500/625.

On lap 25 Darwin Langley, A privateer, punctured his BRM P25.

On lap 27 Peter Grace got an engine failure. This is what happens when you bring an Alta F2 to an F1 race.

On lap 29 polesitter Alberto Oriotiz blew his engine. What a disappointment.

After 50 laps, the dust had settled, and it was revealed that there were only 5 finishers, enough to give out points. Colin Gainsville had not only overcome 15 other cars, but also a high attrition rate.

1955 UAA Tourist Trophy

I'm Billy Rhodes broadcasting live from Strathcona Park for the 24th annual UAA Tourist Trophy. First and foremost Herodion Tyson and Angus Hintzen have retired and will not participate in this years race. Both drivers said that they have had enough of racing after so many years and just want to go home. Their decision was also influenced by the Le Mans tragedy. I do not blame them for wanting to retire after seeing so much.

In other news Packard have upped the ante with their new 290hp Patrician which is sure to win this year's race. Chevrolet has introduced the 195hp Bel Air but no one expects that to touch the Patrician, nor will the 193hp Ford Fairlane. UMC have also introduced new models, the Mark II and the Parliament, both of which are only expected to make up the numbers. Also making up the numbers is Sunbeam, whose tiny little Mark III can only produce 80hp.

The flag drops and they're away! The Packard Patrician of Brendan Boyce leads the pack!

Bruce Dempsey drops oil on lap 4, causing Victor Malcourt to spin out on the following lap.

Peter Cameron also drops oil on lap 10, causing 2 cars to spin out on the following lap.
